The Sheffield Condo

RSP buys rest of the rent stabilized units at the Sheffield from Fortress for $25M. Fortress Investment Group sold 58 separate units of its Sheffield condominium holdings which a handsome profit demonstrating the desirability of the property.

The Sheffield design features a cross-shaped footprint which optimizes the number of corner units, all filled with wall-to-wall windows, allowing more residents breathtaking multi directional views of the Manhattan skyline, the Hudson River, and Central Park. I am happy to say that my corner apartment faces the 57th Street side of the building. Each apartment is also outfitted with gleaming hardwood floors, state-of-the-art appliances, and beautiful architectural details, like the stone basin sinks in the bathrooms.

Apart from the location and the great layout of the units, one of The Sheffield’s main attractions for me was how well the staff caters to every lifestyle need. The amenities go above and beyond the basics—The Sheffield offers valet parking, a 5,000-square-foot rooftop with swimming pools, and a BBQ area with sun-decks overlooking Midtown Manhattan and the Hudson River and which make for a great venue for parties and events. There are also numerous sitting areas all around the Sheffield build at ground level with tables and chairs, trees, and fountains where residents and guests can malinger. The Sheffield offers classes like yoga, TNT, cycling, and Pilates, and I make regular use of the ultramodern fitness facility complete with dry and wet sauna rooms.

The location, the accessibility, the views, the layouts, the design, the staff, and the amenities all make The Sheffield a world class apartment building, but what really makes it special are the residents. The Sheffield people are from diverse backgrounds, but every person who lives here, many of whom are close friends, cherishes the sense of community and neighborhood found in this Manhattan oasis.
